The bodyball is deceptively simple. Just a big rubber ball that
looks very much like a kids beach ball, except not as colorful. However
it's uses are amazing and powerful enough that most professional
athletes use the bodyball as an integral part of their personal
training.
Bodyball workouts help build core stability, muscle
strength, and balance. Accustomed to doing your dumbbell presses on a
bench? Move to doing them on a bodyball! This will require you to engage
in a much more demanding activity: using your own balance and stability
while at the same time lifting weights. Some people find it annoying
that suddenly their maximum weight load drops significantly, but this is
a natural part of the process. It isn't that you've lost strength; it's
simply that the body has to distribute it's power to more regions in
order to maintain control of the whole body.
The end results are amazing too. While you are lifting less
weight you are actually building a more solid core that is less
susceptible to injury, more adept at handling the wide variety of needs
place on your muscles, and faster reaction times.
Another great use of the bodyball is in working with clients
who are working with injuries. Use of the bodyball enables many types of
injuries to be exercised through without creating any increased risks
and promotes faster healing. Clients are very comfortable too because
they can feel that there is no unnatural strain being put on their
injury.
Whether you're recovering from an injury or just wanting to
develop your core stronger give the bodyball a try. You'll gain from the
experience, and I can properly teach you how.
